The Visitors Bureau hinted in the past several months of possible ways it was working with Hawaiian Air to promote American Samoa and one of which is a travel package to bring US visitors to Pago Pago.

Visitors Bureau deputy director, Vaito'a Hans Langkilde, said a new plan for industry development is in the works, whereby the Visitors Bureau and Hawaiian Air have agreed to work together on a travel package for visitors and tourists to travel to American Samoa.

He said the current plan for the travel package would allow travellers from US cities served by Hawaiian Air to visit American Samoa for between a two to four night stay in the territory.

Our American Samoa correspondent, Monica Miller, said the travel package includes airfares, hotel room and car rental.

The Visitors Bureau is working with other airlines for similar types of travel packages including Fiji Airways and those that serve the inter-Samoa route.

Fifty-three people were onboard the bus when it plunged 100 metres down a steep bank killing 11-year-old Sione Taumololo, and 33 year-old Talita Fifita.

The crash victims were students of the Mailefihi Siu'Ilikutapu College brass band from Tonga who were on a fundraising tour around New Zealand.

The President of the school's alumni association in New Zealand said the bodies would undergo a post-mortem in Rotorua before arriving in Auckland today.

Mele Siuipi Latu said the remaining survivors of the crash would also arrive in Auckland today.
